[TBN] Boom and bucket will not move simultaneously

8" or 12" Bucket?

With the BX24 tractor Kubota offer a choice of bucket width, 8 inches or 12 inches. Most owners opt for the wider bucket, it will shift more dirt of course. There are few tasks when the narrower bucket is necessary - if you have a lot of trenching work consider a 3-point-mounted ground engagement tool. A drawback with the narrower bucket is that wet, sticky soil is more prone to getting stuck in the bucket (though read below to find a workaround for that.

Sticky Soil Not Dumping From Bucket

If digging in a sticky soil, it may stick in the bucket instead of dumping out. One solution is to attach a chain to one of the teeth and to a point on the boom. Choose the length so that the chain is slack when digging (and is pushed into the bucket by the dirt, but goes taught when the bucket is in the dump position. The tightening chain will push the soil out of the bucket. (Be careful that the chain does not get trapped in any moving parts.

[TBN] Moving the tractor while operating backhoe

Storing / Moving a Dismounted BackhoeIf you have a smooth garage floor, dollies are a handy way of storing / moving your heavy attachments. You can build your own custom dolly, or purchase inexpensive dollies ready-made.
Here is a selection of dollies from one online supplier, Northern Tool. Also a selection of casters.

Emptying a Trailer

Not as simple as it appears because of the teeth on the backhoe bucket. Some ideas can be found here

Backhoe Stabilizer Pads

The BX range does not have rubber pads on the backhoe stabilizer feet. Some commercial tractors have flipover rubber bumpers to protect asphalt and concrete from damage. Kubota sells some pads for BX tractors but you still have the issue of damage from the FEL bucket which is used to stabilize the fron end when using the hoe. The part number for a BX24 is reported to be BX9468.

At least one owner made his own pads ... "cut two pads out of an old tire, used 2x8 as backer, bolted them onto the steel pads"
